Avocado studs

Solid Sterling Silver 925, Handmade by Kimberley Huxley in my workshop in Essex. Hallmarked at the London Assay office with my own makers mark.

These avocado stud earrings started out life as a carving into wax. They then went through a process called casting to make them into a solid silver piece. Molten sterling silver is poured into a mould of my wax carvings to produce a 3D half avocado with curved back. It is then cleaned up, soldered to the ear pin for a secure fitting and taken to the London hallmarking office for its official stamp. The final stage and most time consuming, is polishing. Atleast 2 files and 4 grades of polishing papers are used, with a final buff of rouge.
